Amazing Chair
For years I had neck, back, and shoulder issues. It stemmed from bad posture. The question was why did I have bad posture?
I tried massage, yoga, and other things to alleviate the postural problems but the discomfort always returned. Why?
It turns out that I had actually accrued really bad postural habits since childhood so no matter how much stretching or massage I did I was never dealing with the real issue. I was just treating symptoms. So no wonder I never got better.
Eventually I came across the Alexander Technique of body awareness and realignment and this got me on the right path. I began to pay attention to the signals my body was sending me and this alerted me to when I was out of alignment as well as when I was in proper alignment. Slowly, my body has been readjusting itself to the point where I no longer have to pay conscious attention to my posture; it takes care of itself as it was designed to.
I still get aches and pains but this is just the body’s way of letting me know that I am doing something wrong and to stop doing it.
Since my body has realigned itself to a great degree, I now have trouble sitting on regular furniture. Within a short period of time my back starts to ache, my neck gets sore, among other things. If I try to sit improperly my body lets me know very quickly.
Furniture is the best thing for creating bad posture. One would be hard pressed to find anything on the market that comes close to actually supporting the body in a posture healthy way. I find this rather frustrating as wherever I go I am presented with the usual furniture. I guess all I can do about this is to continue to sit with my legs in half lotus when I am able. Of course I am then faced with social decorum which states that one should never have their feet on the furniture.
So in regards to my home I was very happy to find this active sitting chair. Oh the comfort of sitting the way nature intended. And I get a mini workout while using it.
